SRTP – K2 Base Camp & Gondogoro La Trek

The world’s greatest museum of “shape and form” is how Italian mountaineer/author Fosco Ma-raini described Concordia in his book, “Karakoram”. In Concordia, six peaks over 7,925 meters rise to touch the heavens, including K2 (8,611 m) the 2nd highest mountain on this beautiful Planet Earth*. From Islamabad, we fly to Skardu (subject to weather) and from there onwards*, drive to the trek head and meet our colorful expedition porters, the sturdy mountain men. Trekking up to this otherworldly place, we enter a breathtaking* wilderness of ice, rock and sky. By the time we reach Paiju Camp at the foot of the Baltoro Glacier, we begin to feel the pulse of creation: the ice melts, the rocks roll, and the glacier creaks and groans, shape-shifting its icy rivers into wondrous mysteries of nature*.
Reaching Concordia is a reward in itself*, with the most incredible mountain views in the world, virtually surrounded by K2, Broad Peak (8,051 m), Gasherbrum IV (7,925 m), and razor-edged Mitre Peak, who wouldn’t say they saw heaven on earth*.
Our return trek will take us through a challenging climb of almost 1200m skirting the Gondogoro La Glacier (5,690 m) and down to the lush green irrigated fields of the Hushe Valley. This is an exciting and challenging trek, geared for hikers with mountain trekking experience
